The Strip is among the most famous Las Vegas attractions. It's equal parts notorious and beloved, a must-see for any tourist to Sin City.

Bus rides, guided tours, bar crawls, and more offer guests all sorts of ways to get a taste of the city.

The best time to visit the Strip is definitely at night! This is when everything is lit up, a blinding beacon in the desert that truly exemplifies everything Las Vegas is famous for.

Though prices can get steep, more than 70,000 hotel rooms can be booked throughout its expanse.

Las Vegas has always been known as a place to "escape" from the greater, more serious worries of the world.

But it's not just a lighthearted, entertainment-filled, brightly-lit oasis of fantasy and fun that has populated this separation. As it turns out, it's also been the ideal location for nuclear testing.

Between 1951 and 1962, work at the Nevada Test Site was booming 65 miles away from the city.

Mushroom clouds from a hundred above-ground nuclear tests could be seen from Las Vegas, which became a point of attraction for tourists and visitors.

In 1963, testing moved underground, with 828 more of these experiments to follow.

The National Atomic Testing Museum is one of the sites in Las Vegas that commemorates this history.

It's actually the only official atomic museum in the country and is a Smithsonian affiliate. Here, you'll get to browse various artifacts related to this subject. There are more than 12,000 of them!

21: Erotic Heritage Museum

Erotic Heritage Museum
Flickr/Panegyrics of Granovetter

The Erotic Heritage Museum is one of the more unique attractions in Las Vegas.

Believe it or not, its collection was started by a Methodist minister named Reverend Ted McIlvenna.

As strange as it sounds, this clergyman had one of the biggest pornography collections in the world in the mid-90s.

McIlvenna was most interested in preserving and studying various items and artifacts, including films, literature, and art, relating to human sexuality.

He collected sexual treatises, dirty postcards and posters, and much more. Eventually, he would go on to found the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality.

In 2008, a large amount of McIlvenna's collection was used in the Erotic Heritage Museum as it opened its doors in Las Vegas.

There are some pretty explicit items within the museum's walls, especially since its revamping in 2014.

If that's something you're interested in seeing, you won't find a more fascinating collection anywhere nearby!

26: Atomic Liquors

Atomic Liquors
Dreamstime/Mel Surdin

Are you a drinker looking for things to do in Las Vegas that don't involve going into hotel casinos? Head to Fremont Street and check out Atomic Liquors!

It began its life as a small cafe in 1945, run by the Sobchik family. At the time, the couple had to ration carefully, as it was the time of the war, and running any eatery was quite a challenge.

In 1952, luck was turning over, and the couple saw a benefit in changing their business. They decided to shut down their little cafe and open Atomic Liquors, lighting it with a bright neon sign that soon became famous.

Back then, it was a package shop selling wine, beer, and other drinks as take-out. But as tavern license rules came into play, the business model changed, and soon Atomic Liquors would cement itself as Las Vegas' oldest free-standing bar.

Atomic Liquors became famous among celebrities, mobsters, casino workers, and everyday locals.

It was classy, a break from the glitz and glam of the Strip. Though the business is no longer run by the same family, it has been restored to preserve its original appearance and is as delicious as ever - and well worth a visit!

Death Valley National Park is the biggest, lowest, driest, and hottest park of its kind in the United States. That's a lot of things for one single location to be, which is why a trip here is among the vacation ideas in Las Vegas.

It's not within the city, but the park, which straddles Nevada and California, is worth the day trip!

There are, of course, many different locations to visit in a place so large. Badwater Basin is one of the most iconic.

The salt flat is the Western Hemisphere's second-lower point, situated 86 meters beneath sea level. Here, you'll see formations of salt in polygonal, natural shapes, each one majestic and stunning in its appearance.

If you're trying to get across Death Valley National Park in a convenient way for sightseeing, try Artists Drive.

The nine-mile stretch of road takes you throughout the hills. If you'd prefer views, climb up to Dante's View above Badwater Basin.

Ultimately, you've got to plan your trip here well so you can see all that you want to!

34: The Big Edge

The Big Edge

The Big Edge isn't exactly one of the typical Las Vegas tourist attractions. It's a massive sculpture with a 75-foot length, "floating" just off the Strip in a very out-of-place, metal conglomeration above City Center plaza.

The Big Edge was made by Nancy Rubins and contains more than 200 sailboats, canoes, rowboats, and kayaks, each one made from aluminum and weighing as little as 60 or as much as 125 pounds.

It was built in 2009 and resembled a bouquet of sorts, and it really has to be seen to be believed!

It's hard to imagine that France could be among Las Vegas attractions, but it is - sort of! Paris, Las Vegas is a casino hotel on the Strip designed to resemble the most iconic parts of Paris.

This includes the Arc de Triomphe and multiple motifs inspired by the Louvre and the Paris Opera.

Of course, the central attraction of Paris, Las Vegas is its Eiffel Tower Experience. Here, you can ride the half-sized, 46-floor replica of the iconic tower.

You can pay for tickets up to the observation deck and view the gorgeous world around you.

When you're done, play a few rounds at the casino, shop at some of the stores, eat at French-themed bars and restaurants, or watch a show.

Evel Pie

Evel Pie is named after the iconic Evel Knievel and might be one of the best places to visit in Las Vegas for hungry fans of the legendary daredevil.

It's a pizza joint packed with memorabilia related to Evel Knievel and his son, including a working pinball machine, a life-sized statue, and an authentic Knievel bicycle. There are tons of photos and portraits, too!

The food at Evel Pie is decent, but of course, its main draw is its dedication to this huge icon. You'll enjoy sating your hunger under the watchful eyes of the stuntman.

The SlotZilla Zip Line can be found on Fremont Street. The zipline experience brings you through a series of narrow passages that resemble tunnels, taking you over Sin City's streets.

You'll spot numerous Las Vegas attractions as you zoom by, eagle-like.

There are two options for the experience. You can go over a couple of blocks in a shorter, more traditional zipline style.

But if you want something more interesting, there's the "zoomline": you lay prone, in a similar manner to a superman pose, and zip across five blocks at intense speed.

With the sweltering heat of the desert of Sin City, it's no surprise that one of the most loved vacation ideas in Las Vegas involves escaping that intensity.

46: Valley of Fire State Park

Valley of Fire State Park

Those who visit Las Vegas often grab the opportunity to explore nearby state parks and natural areas.

If that's something that interests you, head to Valley of Fire State Park! This is the biggest and oldest park of its kind in Nevada, dedicated in 1935. It spans 45,000 acres or so and has so much historical value!

Valley of Fire State Park owes its name to the stunning formations of red sandstone that it is most famous for. When the sun shines on them, they appear to be on fire.

Other rock formations feature shale, limestone, and combinations of different minerals. Birdwatchers will be thrilled to spot sage sparrows, ravens, roadrunners, and house finches.

Wildlife watchers will also be able to keep their eyes peeled for black-tailed jackrabbits, desert tortoises, kit foxes, coyotes, antelope ground squirrels, and spotted skunks.

Once upon a time, the Valley of Fire was home to numerous native populations. The Basket Maker people, then the Anasazi Pueblo farmers, lived in the Moapa Valley nearby.

Their occupation is believed to date all the way back to 300 BC. There are remnants of these existences in the state park, with petroglyphs and similar marks scattered about.

Seven Magic Mountains was made by Ugo Rondinone, a Swiss artist. The installations are seven "totem" type structures spanning 30 feet in height, painted in fluorescent colors and almost shining under the sun.

Each rock used is locally sourced, creating a bled between artificial and natural forces.

Office of Collecting and Design

The Office of Collecting and Design is one of the most hidden places to go in Las Vegas.

The gem is a small and rather unusual location, partially a film studio but also a prop house and exhibit space.

The "office" is home to tons of tiny little objects that completely line its walls, displays, and shelves in a perfect example of maximalism at its finest.

The Office of Collecting and Design is a bit of a throwback to old curio museums.

There are wonders like incomplete card decks, empty frames, misshapen dice, tiny boxes, three-legged figures, keyless locks, isolated game pieces, and more.

They all seem lost, isolated, and chaotic, and that's part of what makes the site so fascinating.
